Vous arrive-t-il de rêver que votre jardin n’est qu’une suite de singletracks à l’infini qui s’enroulent autour de montagnes et de vallées, et qu’il vous suffit d’ouvrir la porte, d’admirer le paysage et d’avoir comme seul souci de voir d’où vient le vent pour décider de la direction que prendront vos roues? Eh bien, vous n’êtes pas le seul!
Ce rêve paraît inaccessible et pourtant il existe des vététistes comme vous et moi qui ont poursuivi ce rêve jusqu’au bout et qui nous en font profiter…

Droom jij soms van een achtertuin met oneindige singletracks, uitgestrekte bergen en dalen? De deur opendoen en, uitkijkend over een prachtig landschap, enkel beslissen in welke windrichting je vandaag vertrekt? Join the club!
Het is een droom die onbereikbaar lijkt en toch zijn er bikers zoals jij en ik die deze droom zijn achterna gegaan en die ons, die de stap om allerlei redenen niet zetten, daar vandaag van laten meegenieten. Deze mensen zijn vreemden die je zomaar in “hun” paradijs rondleiden. Dankzij het internet zijn ze slechts “a mouse click away” en komen ze op korte tijd heel dicht bij je te staan. Ik droomde van de Sierra Nevada als achtertuin. De magische woorden in Google – MTB Sierra Nevada – leverden me in 1 seconde 5 links op die elk een hemelpoort
naar Sierra Nevada heaven bleken…

Out in front of us are 3,000m peaks, a Spanish odyssey of sun, er, snow and sangria. There’s not a breath of wind and the sun warms up my legs as we cycle up a rocky ridge with a backdrop of mountains shimmering in the haze and a bustling metropolis beneath us. I’m in Sierra Nevada riding with Shaun Allen, who with his partner Csilla, runs Ride Sierra Nevada, from Monachil, a small village in the foothills above Granada….
